Low-Carbon Cement

We are honored to announce that the Institute of Cement & Concrete (ICC) at Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) was well represented at this world-class conference. The Director at the Institute of Cement & Concrete (ICC), Dr. Joseph Mwiti Marangu, was in attendance with a clear objective: to explore strategic partnerships and collaborations with cement-related industries, educational institutions, research organizations and policy makers.

This is vital in:
1. Enhancing the curricula at the institute with industry-relevant knowledge.
2. Secure partners for pioneering low-carbon cement blends research initiatives like LC3.
3. Align academic programs and research with real-world market needs & national policies.
4. Drive the commercialization and adoption of sustainable construction materials across Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.

This engagement is an integral part of the Institute’s dual mission to enhance its academic curriculum and advance its pioneering research in sustainable, scalable, low-cost, low-carbon cement blends like LC3-Limestone Calcined Clay Cement, that reduce the carbon footprint by upto 40%. This initiative aligns with the Institute’s plans to launch new curricula in Construction Chemicals and Paint Technology, further cementing its commitment to providing top-tier postgraduate education and research initiatives. This will drive a sustainable construction future for Sub-Saharan Africa’s future.
