At the Kenya Green Building Society (KGBS) Conference & Green Expo 2025, Hon. Nasra Nanda, CEO of KGBS, had a fruitful strategy meeting with Dr. Joseph Mwiti Marangu, Director of the Institute of Cement and Concrete (ICC) at Meru University of Science and Technology and Head of LC3 TRC Africa. They held a substantial discussion on collaboration and partnership aimed at driving positive change in Kenya’s built environment.
Both ICC and KGBS share a common mission centered on promoting sustainable building practices that address environmental, social, and economic challenges. ICC focuses on advancing scientific research, postgraduate training, and community engagement in cement and concrete technologies with a strong emphasis on low-carbon solutions. Similarly, KGBS advocates, educates, and certifies green buildings in Kenya to foster an environmentally responsible, resource-efficient, and socially progressive built environment.
Their joint focus on combating decarbonization and climate change aligns with the broader objectives of the conference, which highlights climate-resilient innovations and investment in sustainable real estate, infrastructure, heritage, and tourism for Kenya’s future. Together, ICC and KGBS envision advancing practical strategies to promote low-carbon, climate-resilient buildings and infrastructure that support Kenya’s climate goals and sustainable development agenda.
This dialogue underscores a shared commitment among leaders in the built environment sector to transform the challenges posed by climate change into opportunities for sustainable growth and social impact in Kenya.
