TNO, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, is piloting an innovative affordable housing project designed to leverage locally sourced materials transformed through advanced technology. This initiative aims to deliver resilient, modern homes tailored to the region’s unique environmental challenges, while supporting Kenya’s goal to construct 200,000 affordable units annually targeting low- and middle-income earners.
The project exemplifies a groundbreaking fusion of sustainable construction technology and social impact, embodying the government’s commitment to addressing the housing deficit through public-private partnerships and environmentally conscious development. It also reflects the growing emphasis on climate-resilient and economically inclusive housing.
During the meeting, the delegation, reaffirmed its strong commitment to supporting this transformative initiative. ICC’s expertise and research capabilities will bolster the project’s success, ensuring it aligns with the advanced scientific innovation and its practical applications.
This collaboration holds promise not only for Laikipia County but as a model for sustainable housing solutions across Kenya, truly advancing the nation’s agenda for affordable, resilient, and sustainable living environments.
