1. Overview of the Postgraduate Positions for Erasmus Exchange Program

The Institute of Cement & Concrete, Meru University of Science & Technology (MUST) in collaboration with the Department of Geosciences, University of Padua, Italy is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for postgraduate students to participate in the Erasmus+ KA171 Student and Staff Exchange Program. This program enables academic and research mobility between the two institutions. The program seeks to competitively fill the position(s) of postgraduate student(s) for the for Erasmus Exchange Program at the Department of Geosciences, University of Padua, Italy.
2. Research Theme
In the future, low carbon cements are expected to gain more traction due to their potential to lessen the carbon footprint in construction industry. Ternary blended cement systems such as calcined clay cement with limestone and/or volcanic ashes, industrial/agro wastes are some examples of such binder systems. The adoption of low carbon cement systems and extensive application, however, will largely depend on the availability of supplementary cementitious materials but more importantly, chemical admixtures that will enable better control of their workability, set behavior, and strength development, among other key considerations. This study aims to investigate influence of early strength enhancers, set retarders, and superplasticizers for those binders. Furthermore, the impact of adding minerals, like artificial gypsum, on the rheology of low-carbon cement systems will be evaluated.
